In the year 1838, the first railway station was built in the city centre known as Curzon Street railway station. This station was closed in 1966 due to its absurd location at the edge of the city. The other two noted stations are Birmingham International railway station and Birmingham Snow Hill Station.

The Industrial Revolution emerged as a pathway for the growth of many industries. The railways were revolutionized by James Watt and the city workers constructed it.

The Industrial Revolution brought about a major change in the railway industry, which also helped in the easy transportation of goods. The Curzon Street Station
Acted as the terminus for London and Birmingham Railway and Grand Junction Railway. The lines connected from Birmingham to London and another from Manchester to Liverpool.
