What Are The Five Largest Cities In Cuba?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Cuba's largest city is Havana, the island nation's capital. Havana has a population of 2.6 million, according to 2002 census results. Figures from 2006 indicate that the population of the greater Havana area stands at 3.07 million residents. The capital is home to over 20% of Cuba's total population, which stands at 11.4 million.

Santiago de Cuba is the Caribbean country's second largest city, with a population of 544,400. This is followed by Camaguey (348,600 residents), Holguin (312,100) and Guantanamo, with a population of 269,200.

The population of Cuba's urban centres have tended to increase over the past forty years, as the population of the country as a whole has increased at a steady rate, due to the relatively high number of births since 1961. The birth rate, however, has shown signs of decrease during the past two years. In 2005, there was 0.00% population change, due to the lower birth rate.
