These are the sort of rules that were typical in workhouses during the C19.
Inmates were not allowed to make any noise when silence was ordered to be kept. They should not use obscene or profane language.
They were not to insult or revile by deed or word, threaten or strike any person.
they had to keep clean, not refuse to work, or neglect their work or pretend to be sick.
They could not play cards or games of chance (gamble).
They were not allowed to enter or attempt to enter the ward or yard without permission to any class of pauper to which they didn't belong.
inmates could not misbehave whilst going to a place or in a place of worship.
they had to be punctual on arrival back at the workhouse if they had been granted temporary absence.
They must not wilfully disobey any orders or officers of the workhouse.
