    Dieting is perhaps the most effective way of slimming down. Though exercise is also effective in burning calories it may end up adding mass in the form of muscles. In order to loose weight and slim down you will probably have to perform some aerobic exercises. The concept is to consume a lesser amount of calories then your body is burning. In this way the body has to use up stored reserves of fat for its energy needs. It is important to remember that the losing of weight too soon or too quickly can also result in health problems. Anorexic usually vomit whatever they eat in order to avoid weight gain, but this too extreme a measure. Remember that the body generally burns muscles as well as fat to meet shortfalls in energy and hence you will have to do a moderate amount of exercise to avoid losing muscle mass.
