Miguel de Unamuno was a famous Spanish writer as well as philosopher. 'Abel Sanchez' was his best and most famous creation among all. The book was published in the year of 1917. It was basically a modern re-creation of the story of Cain and Abel which was taken from the Bible.

Miguel was born on 29th September of 1864 at Bilbao in Spain. He served as rector of the University of Salamanca from the year of 1901. Miguel was dismissed from the post in the year of 1914 for supporting the allied cause during the First World War. In the year of 1931 he was re-elected as the rector but again dismissed for disapproving of Francisco Franco's Falangists.

Miguel wrote a lot of poetry and plays. But the history of literature would ever remember him as a novelist as well as an essayist. 'The tragic sense of life in men and peoples' was also a master piece from him. It was brought out in the year of 1913. In that novel Miguel stressed the role spiritual apprehension plays in driving one to be live the fullest possible life. 'The Christ of Velazquez' was also a great work from him. It was a superb example of modern Spanish verse. 'The Christ of Velazquez' was published in the year of 1920.

Miguel de Unamuno died on 31st December of 1936 in Salamanca.
