What Are The Symptoms Of A Gall Bladder Problem?

Pains in right side

Answer Question

Pain after eating, ESPECIALLY after eating fatty foods.  Incidentally, the gall bladder is on the left side of the body; not the right. What happens is the gall bladder contracts as part of the digestive process.  If you have stones, bile cannot pass through the neck of the gall bladder, and that causes pain.  A Vascular Surgeon I worked with told me he asks his patients to simply THINK of eating guacamole.  Imagine the taste, the texture on the tongue, swallowing it....if this causes great pain in the area of the gall bladder, he orders an ultrasound scan of the gall bladder, and he says he's usually right using this little trick, because guacamole is so full of fat.  Other foods that can cause pain:  Cheeseburgers, ice cream, anything fatty.

Whoops, messed that up. It is on the rt. Side of the body. I was trying to remember what I would turn a patient up on his rt. Side to scan and it was the spleen. The gall bladder is tucked in with the liver. I stand up for the rest of my anser, though

Pain and tenderness in the upper right quadrant of abdomen, sometimes radiating to the back. In my case I experienced severe intermittent pain every evening until I was able to get gallbladder removed. I believe that this is caused by gallstones getting stuck in the biliary duct, causing biliary colic.
