The corrosion is caused mainly by air and water. Carbon dioxide is itself an oxide so corrosive action by it is less. Nitrogen is not so effective at corrosion as its valency is 3. Distilled water is not corrosive but normal water in presence of air (oxygen) is more corrosive than alone air( Oxygen). Also corrosive action is also depends the oxidising no. of the element which is coming in contact with water or air.
