How Many People Live In Normandy?

    A geographical region in the northern part of France, and the Channel Islands, make up what is known as Normandy.  Although the Channel Islands are considered British, they are culturally and historically a part of Normandy.  The division of Normandy occured in 1204 and since those times The Channel Islands chose not to revert back to the crown of France but, rather, have remained loyal to the British Crown.  Today, Normandy has a population of an estimated 3.2 million and the average population density was recorded at one hundred and seven per square kilometre.  The highest populated cities in Normandy are Rouen with a population of three hundred and eighty-five thousand, Le Harve with a population of two hundred and fourty-seven thousand, Caen with two hundred thousand recorded inhabitants and Cherbourg-Octeville with eighty-nine thousand residents.  Rouen, once the capital of all of Normandy is, today, the capital of Upper Normandy and Caen is the capital of Lower Normandy.
