The landlord is actually required to give you a 24 hour notice before they go into your apartment without permission...unless it is an emergency (ie fire or flooding.) If that is the case, they can go in right away. Honestly, I don't know much that would come of this if you took legal action besides an apology. If your apartment is run by a large property management company, they might throw some free things at you to make the issue go away. Probably not free or discounted rent though.

I have since checked. It is illegal for her to come in w/out notice. I told her I thought it was illegal. I have made it clear that I expect my privacy and the right to a secure enviro is protected. This is in a house, one landlord property holder. She is very attached to house but if it is to be my home... If she does it again, I will know, & will pursue further action. Perhaps moving since she has violated the contract, lease. I still can't believe she would think it OK to do. Thanks.

As an office manager at an apt. complex, I hate to tell you, but the landlord does have the right to come into your apartment to do misc. repairs. However, the snooping part, well, if you can prove it, I'd legally pursue it.

It concerns me that as a apt mgr. you don't know the law. Only in emergancy can anyone enter without my permission or presence. I was 98% sure I was right and checked. I have rght to restrict access to the home I hold. Even the landlord's except in emergancy
