What Are Big Avalanches That Happened?

Here in canada, in the British Columbia area ,where there are huge mountains, when too much snow accumulates, it all comes crashing down.  They have avalanche warning and will actually set off explosives at certain times, to clear up snow and cause an avalanche for the safety of sportsmen and others.  Same in Switzerland, in the swiss alps.  Dogs are used to sniff out people who have gotten covered by avalanches.  Our former Prime Minister, the late Pierre Elliott Trudeau lost one of his sons to an avalanche during ski trip  :(
