Can I get evicted for fussing at landlord to fix my property after asking nicely at first and being very patient?
My landlord told me I had 10 days to leave because I asked him to fix my screen door because there is a hole where the glass is suppose to be. He told me he wasn't wasting money on it. I tried to explain that I pay my rent so he need to make all repairs when requested? So he got mad and told me to leave in 10 days that was last night and I have a 3 year old and a 5 month old with no where to go.
You would greatly benefit from contacting the courthouse about landlord/tenant laws, if you can't get info there, call the BBB.
A landlord should not be able to evict verbally. In some cases, if the landlord has it in the lease that he doesn't have to fix minor things, then it falls on the tenant to fix them.
If, however it states in the lease that the landlord is the one to maintain the property, then he is the one to fix something, but if you broke it, or a child, for instance, or on purpose then he can fix it, but you have to pay for the repair. Hope this helps.
