In Archaeology, What Is The Main Source Of Evidence For The Western Province In Irish Pre-history?
Answers
The main source of evidence for the Western Province is the type of megalithic tomb called a wedge tomb.
In this type of tomb the burial chamber usually has an anit-chamber or a portico at the entrance.
In some tombs there is a closed-end chamber at the rear of the tomb which looks like a false entrance.
The division between the portico and the main chamber usually consists of a slab but some tombs do have door jams.
A number of tombs show that the main chamber narrows and decreases in height from the portico as the interior of the chamber is approached.
Between around 400 -500 wedge tombs have been found to date, the largest concentration being in west Cork, east Clare and some areas of Tipperary, the Burren and north-east Mayo and County Sligo.

The researcher she is very good, but I feel the research done in 1955 by Dr. Sean O'Riordan and the Egypt influence is fascinating, as to the Irish Royal blood lines.
Researcher you've studied this, right?
