Nigeria's population is predominantly divided into two main religions, namely: Christianity and Islam.
On several occasions since 1999, inter- religious conflicts have broken out resulting in riots and mass killing of several innocent people belonging to Christian as well as Muslim religion. The federal government has been helpless and weak in controlling these religious outbursts.
Nigeria, after a 15 year long military rule, in 1999 underwent a democratic reform. If democracy is respect for human right, I would say that, religious barriers are opposed to human rights themselves.
