A favicon is an icon which is used to represent a website. It appears in the URL bar.
Favicons can be created by web designers and used on most web browsers. Some web builders, such as Moonfruit, which uses SiteMaker, allow users to upload their own favicon to use for their website.
A favicon can be anything that represents the website, such as the first letter of the website, the website's initials or the website's logo.
There are many online tutorials that show users how to create a favicon. Some sites have a generator which allows users to upload a source image from which the favicon is created. Animated favicons can also be created. Other websites offer services where they create a favicon for users for a fee.
