    Competition from major banks and other financial institutions is probably the single greatest challenge that a new insurance broker will face. Building up a client base is not easy and keeping existing customers is even more difficult, as large banks are often able to offer home and auto insurance policies at better rates, especially to students and seniors. As such, insurance brokers will often have existing clients calling them up and asking them to match a rate offered by a major financial institution.
