    New Zealand is in the Pacific Ocean near Australia. It consists of two big islands named the North Island and the South Island as well as many small islands like Stewart and Chatham. Its capital is Wellington whose coordinates are 41°17′S 174°47′E.  New Zealand is called the Land of the long white cloud or Aotearoa in the Maori language.  New Zealand is a part of the triangle of Polynesia along with Hawaii and Rapa Nui.   

    The Tasman Sea separates Australia and New Zealand by about two thousand km. In the north New Zealand's nearest neighbours are Tonga, Fiji and New Caledonia. The indigenous Maori people are a minority in New Zealand. Currently the majority of the population is of European origin. The Queen of England is New Zealand's head of State. She is represented in new zealnd by Anand Satyanand the present Governor General.
