Spotting are not part of the periods. Spotting at start of the periods indicate that you are going to get normal flow of periods very soon. The spotting before start of the periods are also not a sign of pregnancy. You should also know that none of the signs of pregnancy are reliable. Pregnancy is suspected when a lady misses her periods on due dates and then conformation is done by the pregnancy test either in urine or blood.
