What Ethnic Group Makes Up The Majority In Ecuador?

    The ethnic group that makes up the majority in Ecuador is Mestizos. They comprise of nearly 65% of the population. Mestizos are Spanish basis used to appoint the people of mixed European and native Non European descent. However, according to colonial Latin America and Spain this term usually was referred to children whose parents were either a European or Amerindian. Today, the Mestizos are referred to people with evident amounts of European and Amerindian lineage.  

    The second largest group that contributes to nearly 25% of the population is Amerindians. And the rest 7 to 10% of the population is mainly criollos.Some 3 % of the population reside in the tropical forest region. A small ethnic group of Afro-Ecuadorians, comprise the rest. However, there is an increasing number of immigrants from Asia, Europe, North America and Middle East.
