    The waters around Karachi are excellent fishing grounds, and the Surmise often weighs 15-20 lbs. Lobster, prawn, cod, mackerel, whale, shark, dolphins and many others abound, in the delta region, crocodile, gavial, harmless, python, hog deer and wild boar are also to be found. Poisonous snakes; such as the cobra, the viper and the krait and many kinds of non-poisonous snakes are found in grassy areas.

    The northern part of the western wing abounds in wild life. The Siberian ibex, the Marco polo sheep, and the markhor are found. Urial, the frisky goral, and the blue sheep, or bharol are encountered occasionally. The handsome snow leopard is sometimes met and brown bear and the black Himalayan bear are also found.

    The bird population shows a rich variety. There are over 100 main species of resident birds, of which many sing. There are many varieties of pigeon and pheasant. On the hillsides, leopards stalk at night and there are jackal, fox, wild cat, musk cat, hyena, porcupine, rodents and reptiles. The plain support those birds and mammals which feed on crops. The waters of the river Indus sustain a rich treasure of water birds; the mallards, teal, shoveller, spot bill, goose, wild duck, goosander, smew and others. In the southern regions are found deserts gazelles and blue peacocks.
