What Is A LAN, A WAN?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

LAN stands for Local Area Network.  It refers to a group of computers that are connected, usually through a wired system, and which usually share a central processor and server/memory bank (but not always).

WAN stands for Wireless Area Network.  It's usually used to connect to the internet by allowing your computer to exchange information wirelessly with a modem connected to your internet service provider.  In order to connect to a WAN, your computer must have an antenna.
