    Week Old Kittens Found

Found 4 baby kittens, about 3-4 inches long, they were mewing and one was under an outside covered table, the other three were underneath a shed, five feet from the first one; no sign of a mom, don't know if I scared her or if something happened to her. I put the babies in a box with a towel where I found the first one, but since I work every day, don't know if mom came back. Is alright if I gave them one feeding in the morning, and regular interval feedings in the evening after work?

That is not going to be enough (I found some kitten myself in the past) they are hungry and must be given that kitten like mother milk more often than that. Get them to a cat rescue they will take proper care of them.

We have a lot of strays & often orphan kittens. I buy "Cat Milk" by Whiskas and use a needleless 3cc syringe to administer. Usually no more than 3-6ccs at any one time. Make sure to get all air out or syringe or they will get gas. If I have to be away for extended times I put a small serving(each) of canned kitten food. Of the smallest cans, I only serve 1/4 to 1/3 at a time. They will move away when they are full. Also, as gross as it may sound, if they are not going to the bathroom, you may need to take a washcloth wet with warm water and gently stimulate the rectum of the very young as their mother would do via licking. If you notice undo bloating after feeding, give this a try. If their eyes are open you should be able to do this and place them immediately in a litter pan and they seem to catch right on. Good luck.

Thank for the advice everybody; I took the remaining three kittens to a local vet that regularly takes in strays, as two of the three were going downhill fast, so they must have been on their own for longer than I thought; (one had an internal injury that I didn't know), and I knew that if they didn't get immediate help that I couldn't give, none would survive. One kitten has survived and is doing well. I now regret that I didn't take all of them in at once the day I found them.
