Irregular periods is the answer. Your hormones are imbalance. Are you stressed, being medicated, not taking good nutrition, overly exercising etc. I suggest you to consult with your doctor and have complete medical check up. A proper diet can make your periods normal.

The previous answer is a good one.  I am a medical assistant.  Skipping periods or having late periods can be caused by stress, a hormone imbalance or a medication you are taking.  It can also be because of nutrition and there are other reasons.  Spotting after is most likely due to a hormonal imbalance and having irregular cycles.  I would suggest you go to a doctor or go to planned parenthood and get on birth control.  That will regulate your cycles.  If you are already on birth control such as pills, etc.  then the doctor or planned parenthood may put you on a higher dosage or try something else.  If you are trying to get pregnant the doctor can put you on a progesterone that can help regulate your cycle also.  If there is a possibility you can be pregnant I would try a test, or have the doctor do a blood test which is more accurate.  Good luck and take care.   I hope this helps a bit.
