    Pain is number one cause of shivering/shaking in dogs. Labor in all animals is a painful condition because during labor, contractions of the uterine muscles take place. These contraction causes pain. Uterine contractions during labor are necessary to expel the puppies outside. So, uterine contractions are possible explanation of pain during labor in dogs.
