    What Does The German Last Name Pinkelman Mean?

    I know that German last names generally referred to a family's occupation. Can anyone tell me where the German last name Pinkelman came from and if it referred to a family's historical line of work in Germany?

    1. North German: Possibly a habitational name for someone from Pinkel in Westphalia.
    2. North German and Dutch: Probably a variant of Pingel
