Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

To become a certified dentist, an individual requires a degree called "Bachelor of Dental Surgery" also known as BDS. They can also obtain a degree called "Doctor of Dental Surgery" also known as DDS. BDS is used in the United Kingdom and DDS is used in the United States of America.  A dentist is qualified to practice dentistry if he or she has obtained the degree of DDS, in most of the countries you need to complete at least 8 years of formal education. If you are an undergraduate you need to obtain a degree at university level apart from that you also require four years of normal dental training. Before you can start on your own you also need 2 years of practical experience working with the patients and along with senior dentists to gain proper experience.
