I Live In PA. My Landlord Put On Our Lease That After One Year Lease Would Automatically Renew Unless We Gave 2 Month Notice Prior That We Were Moving Out. Can He Do This Legally Without Us Signing A New Lease?
Our lease states, if we do not notify in writing 2 months prior to end of lease we are moving out, then the lease will automatically renew. I always thought they only went to month to month.

No, the Landlord is correct, this is quite normal on a lease and usually most welcome. You would have expected him to through you out at the end of the lease would you? It is usually protection for people who 'forget' or just want to continue with their current lease. However, you could give 2 months notice in writing from today.

I'm not sure in your state what the law is but here it is one year at a time unless you are sure you want more, How can a landlord force you into two years at a time your job may call for you to relocate etc. Is your landlord from America? Just know people come here and take over make the rules up as they go, I would check into that one......Good Luck

The tenancy became month to month only after its expiry by efflux of time or by its termination, since such a clause is legal and mutually agreed upon by you also. If you don't want to stay, give a two month notice right now or if there is clause of alternative payment of two months rent or landlord agrees you can vacate immediately by paying two months rent to him.
