Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Hip-hop music can be described as an extension of rap music. It combines rap with the turntable. It originated in the United States and has become a multi billion dollar industry. Hip-hop has one of the most distinctive visual pictures as compared to other musical genres. Various elements of the hip-hop picture would include

    • African ~ American singers (baring an occasional Eminem of course)
    • Women in skimpy clothes
    • Men wearing loose fitting denim and white t-shirts
    • The bling that they all wear
    • The all powerful music moguls
    • Themes of violence, hatred, money and peace.

In hip-hop music the rapper will rap in the song at the same time he is accompanied with beats from the DJs turntable which sets the mood for the song. The themes for the songs are normally based on every day events or people whom the rapper has had a close association with. It is common for artists to collaborate on tracks. Hip-hop first began in New York in the early 1980s.
