Is hollywood replacing the old (successful well known) actors with the same caliber of actors or ones that can not handle the celebrity given them?

I don't think so, I think they are for the most part grasping for straws. I take acception to the likes of Robert Duvall, Brian Dennehy, Tommy Lee Jones, even Tom Hanks. I can't think of a woman at the moment. But the babies that are there now, can in no way match up to the oldies and the goodies.

I think we are seeing more and more of the babies, and not as much of our older acters, but maybe they are just like us and cant wait to retire :)

The problem may be the scripts written, lack of respect for elders, whatever ,celebrities like Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Sean Connery and many others are hard to emulate.
