Because the french went over to the americans to help with the war - and when they came back, they heard the americans talk about being free and that everyone has a right. They french were divided into groups - at the bottom were the poor people who had to pay taxes for themselves & 2 lords, the nobles in second (thier the people who fight for the king, King Lois 16th) The churchmen & then the king at the top! The idea of being free really motivated the poor people so they started to revolt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
