Well this is unusual behavior of the your dog and he need special care and this is due to reason of bad diet you might be giving him bloody meat so change his meal and give him time to relax.

    Hi,
In response to your aggressive shi tzu.

I have a beautifully shi tzu who became aggressive after getting hit by a family member I left him with. She no longer comes around and his behavior has stopped. I've also been watching the dog whisperer and he's awesome. I've learned how to stop him from barking when someone comes to the door etc. Basically, you can't run away or show fear. You have to become the dog leader. The moment they sense fear they'll attack. Become assertive make a sharp whisper sound or a sharp short NO! Do not allow anyone else to pamper him while you're trying to make a command.
Please, I highly recommend watching the DOG WHIPERER. It is a show on the Discovery channel. If you don't have it, I would strongly advise that you get cable even if it's just for a month. It's on daily now in California at 11:00 AM. And I believe on Thursdays they show it all day. So you never miss an episode. It's worth it believe me you learn so much. Even if you think you have the best dog. There is also another show from England with female dog whisperer. It will be worth it. Especially, if you plan to have him forever. I don't believe that anyone who's ever had a Shi tzu would ever be able to part with these precious loving dogs. They just need the right training.

    Good luck!

      Crosseas,

It sounds like your Shih Tzis exhibiting territorial or
      protective aggression.  Behavior problems
are managed by behavior modification and/or behavior medication.  Work with your veterinarian and a professional
dog trainer –ideally a trainer who will come to your house to observe the
aggression in your dog's environment--to solve aggression problems.  Immediate attention is needed to nip this
behavior in the bud before your dog seriously hurts someone.  There is no magic pill for behavior problems
and will take time and commitment from you to solve.
