My Dog's Neck Seems To Be Bothering Her. She Tilts To One Side And Cannot Turn It The Other Way. Any Suggestions On What Is Wrong?

My dog's neck seems to be bothering her. She tilts it to one side and cannot turn it the other way. She walks with it tilted to her right side so she doesn't walk in a straight line. For dinner she couldn't get to her bowl because she was just going around in circles trying to reach it. She doesn't seem to be in too much pain and I can't tell if her neck is swollen. Any suggestions on what is wrong?

It's hard to say what it really is, because there are so many things that it can be. She could have pulled a muscle, or pinched a nerve, or even may be developing a nerve disorder. The best thing that you can do is take her in to be seen by a vet. Hopefully, it doesn't get worse before it gets better. Hope this helps, good luck.

Head tilt, ataxia (walking drunk), and circling are signs of neurological problems. This can be due to trauma, inner ear infection, central nervous system (brain) disease, vestibular disease and other less common things. Old dog vestibular disease is a rapid onset of neurological signs in an older dog. The cause is unknown, the vestibular apparatus is affected—this affects balance and causes symptoms similar to motion sickness. Old dog vestibular disease progressively resolves over days to weeks. Hand feed your dog and make sure water is accessible. If you dog is unable to eat, drink, seems painful, or develops any other signs please see your veterinarian.
