What Is The Steps To Converting A Mix Number To An Improper Fraction?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    You can use the formula
      a + b/c = (ac + b)/c
You multiply the integer by the denominator of the fraction, add the numerator of the fraction to that product, and express the sum over the fraction denominator.

This is equivalent to rewriting the integer as an equivalent fraction using the denominator of the fraction, then adding the results.
    Example
      3 1/2 = (3*2 + 1)/2 = 7/2
      3 1/2 = 6/2 + 1/2 = 7/2
