What Is Health And Social Care?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Health and Social Care (H&SC) in the UK generally refers to a semi-vocational and semi-academic subject that can be opted for as a GNVQ, NVQ, A-Level, or a variety of other qualifications.

As a subject discipline it combines aspects of sociology, nutrition, biology, law, and even ethics. In general these students would have a work placement in conjunction with their academic studies. Placements could take place in establishments like a nursery, hospital, residential home, or other such caring institutions. Students who opt for Health and Social Care may go on to professions such as doctors, nurses, social workers, care assistants, physiotherapists, psychotherapists, counselors or a variety of other related occupations.

The term Health and social care is also used in reference to primary health care and nursing.
