I suffer from "Clinical Depression AND Anxiety Disorder" myself and have been going to a Psychiatrist for over 6 years now. There are numerous drugs that he can prescribe for anxiety, but you might have to try a few different ones before you find the right one for you. There are side effects for almost every drug known to man, but normally the worst effects are rare. You can also ask him if there are any support groups in you area the deal directly with anxiety. PS....I now take medications that help me, but it took a few tries with different ones to find the right ones for me.

I do not think that psychiatrists can cure anything. They can work with you on, the source of the anxiety, and treat it. Whether with medication, or psycho, or group therapy, they help, but the individual with the anxiety is 'curing him, or herself'. Maladies of the mind, are not usually cured. We gain better understanding of how our psyche works, and we can learn new coping strategies, but the psychiatrist doesn't, in and of himself , cure anxiety.

I went to see the psychiatrist once. My doctor advised me. He took interview of mine, and concluded that i was suffering from anxiety disorder. I asked what is that, he replied its when someone is so tense that this tension starts to spoil his life. He gave me 1 month course of "flux". Psychiatrist only know which medicine to give. They have severe side-effects. Its better to manage your life yourself, so that you don't fall into the trap of anxiety disorder.

Mental health professionals are extremely helpful. A psychiatrist would probably prescribe medication and recommend that you see a psychologist or social worker in their firm to unleash the underlying issues causing the anxiety. The one thing I've learned is that anxiety, if dealt with, can be cured. Unfortunately it's not an overnight fix. Hope this helps!

Well i have anxiety as well but people say its best to try handle it yourself instead of having psychiatrist because it doesn't help everyone.

A psychiatrist can give you medication to help the disorder, they can also give you tips to help manage the anxiety. They give you tools to manage it along with medication but it's up to you to put it to use.
