Where Can You Find Red-tail Catfish?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A red-tail catfish basically is a pimelodid catfish found extensively in the Amazon, Araguaia as well as Orinoco river basins of South America. It is generally found only in fresh water.

The red-tail catfish normally has wide head along with an extended mouth. Its body is mainly dark gray along with minute darker gray spots. Their ventral surface is much paler and a sideways white band passes at the caudal peduncle and runs anteriorly, thinning towards the end someplace from middle across the body just at the back of the operculum.

Even though juveniles are at times presented as aquarium fish, on maturity they can tough a total length of 1.3 m and are hence inappropriate for all but big aquariums. They usually way up to forty seven kg.
