Who Is Eddie Adams?

    Eddie Adams is an American photojournalist who is most famous for capturing one of the most memorable images from the Vietnam War. His career started as working for New Kensington Dispatch and then the Philadelphia Bulletin. He worked with the Associated Press for ten years, and then worked with Time magazine until becoming a special correspondent, covering the Vietnam War amongst other volatile situations.

    The photograph that earned him world renown showed Brigadier General Ngoc Loan firing a bullet into the head of a Vietcong prisoner at point blank range. This photograph won the Pulitzer Prize in 1969 and also the World Press Photo Grand Award. Other awards that he has received include the prestigious George Polk Award of Long Island University which he actually acquired three times in all. He also received the Robert Capa memorial award, and went on to create an annual photojournalism workshop for talented new photographers.
