What Does The Name "Cheryl" Mean?

Apparently it doesn't have an Irish meaning, but I'd like to know if there possibly is a Slovak meaning, since that is the other part of my heritage. If there is neither, where did it originate and what does it mean?

      CHERYL comes from france. In france it meaning  CHERIE  translates  to  BELOVED ONE   or  DEAR.
