The conflict that exacerbated the vinculum between the British and the American colonists was the Boston Massacre, which was one of the many responses of rage on behalf of the English colonists against the British government. The extent of their hatred for the Parliament and the British Government had grown so much that they had stopped associating themselves as British citizens and had also boycotted British goods.

As for the Boston Massacre, it was an attack launched by a group of colonist boys who threw stones and snowballs on a small group of British soldiers in their demonstration of extreme antipathy and hatred for the British government. In order to save themselves from this unexpected and sudden attack, the British soldiers fired their guns resulting in the death of five colonists. One of these soldiers was an African American whose name was Crispus Attucks. This showed that not only the English colonists but also the enslaved Africans were tired of the British government's forceful policies.
