Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There is a disease called Xanthomas and it tends to be a particularly ugly looking one! It is a collection of cholesterol deposits and they are yellow, raised, soft bumps which appear on the skin. Usually they are found more on the eyelids, though the condition can appear quickly on other areas of the body too. When these sudden bumps appear they are known as 'Eruptive Xanthomas' and they generally are showing you that your blood fat levels are too high. If you do have Eruptive Xanthomas you will need to see a physician as soon as possible so that they can treat the problem.

The main cause behind the condition is not known but it is not contagious or harmful in any way. The main problem with the condition is that it is horrible to look at and some sufferers get low self esteem because of it. If you feel you have got the condition it is advisable to go and see your doctor or physician just to be sure.
