    What Causes A Dog To Have A Seizure?

    Hi I had a 13 year old Chow Sammy mix one day he wouldn't eat and did drink water and threw it up the next day didn't eat and let out a howl during the night and cried,the next morning he would'nt come down the stairs he just cried,we carried him down he went pee came inside and started panting real fast rolled his eyes his mouth dropped and he died.What happened??

    One of the things that could cause a dog to have a seizure is a brain tumour or a head injury. The Lyme disease and the RockyMountain spotted fever which are caused by ticks could also lead to seizures. Canine viral diseases such as the canine distemper virus could also cause seizures in dogs.

    Hi Thank you for answering,sence this post my daughters Black Lab had a reaction to sergeants flea and tick medicine and had a seizure and I almost lost her so this made me think 1 1/2 months before my dog died he had sand fleas when I had him in Florida and I gave him a flea bath,1 tube of hearts flea and tick down his back like the directions said to do and flea powder do you think I could have poisoned him?I now find out how bad this over the counter stuff is.Why doesn't someone make them take this stuff off the market......
