Why Did Pakistan And India Both Lose Their Match In The World Cup?
Answers
There are manifold reasons for the losses that India and Pakistan suffered in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007. One of the foremost is that neither of the teams was adequately prepared for the campaign. Both these teams tend to bank on a few players to bail them out always, as against the logically sound approach of having 11 good players, so that even if five players fail the remaining six can bail them out. The superstar culture that is prevalent in these countries puts huge pressure on the players and they do not have the mental ability or training to cope with such huge pressure.
In Pakistani cricket, the specter of match fixing has always loomed large, and many saw this as a convenient explanation for their dreadful loss against Ireland. However, that may not have been the factor at all. A lack of focus, poor form of key players, lack of mental toughness, disharmony within the teams, and also huge fan pressure may have been the more correct reasons for the losses that these teams suffered and their premature exit.

Just before the start of world cup both India and Pakistan suffered humiliating defeats from South Africa in South Africa. These defeats shattered the confidence of both countries. Both countries never managed to gain the confidence back and entered the world cup with lot pressure.
Pakistan suffered another major blow just before world cup and that was the loss of its key players due to injuries. The injured players list included Shoaib Akhter world's fastest bowler, Mohammad Asif and Abdul Razzaq. This weakened the Pakistan team's bowling attack and put more pressure on the out of form batsmen.
On the other hand Indian team did manage to get into the world cup with its full strength but they were under enormous pressure to perform.
In the match of India and Bangladesh, Bangladesh managed to get few quick wickets and rest of team was not able to sustain the pressure. Whole world recognizes the class of Indian batsmen but under pressure even the best could not perform.
In the match of Pakistan and Ireland, the green top pitch and the loss of toss were mainly responsible for Pakistan defeat. Same things happened here, Ireland got quick wickets and rest of the team was not able to sustain pressure and eventually they lost.
