    Poole has eight major educational institutions. These are the Ashdown Technology College, the Carter Community Sports College, the Corfe Hills School, the Parkstone Grammar School, the Poole Grammar School, the Poole High School, Saint Edward's RC CE VC School and The Bournemouth and Poole College.

    The Ashdown Technology College was formally inaugurated by Princess Margaret on July 7, 1989. It is a combination of two secondary schools, the Seldown Boys School and the Ashley Cross Girls School. Mrs. Liz Jones is the head teacher of the school.

    The Carter Community Sports College is a school that specialises in teaching sports as an academic discipline. The Corfe Hills School is an all-purpose technology college and one of the premier secondary schools located in Broadstone. The Parkstone Grammar School (PGS) is an all-girls state school that specialises in teaching science. The Poole Grammar School is also abbreviated as PGS and is an all-boys state school that specialises in teaching mathematics and computer science. St. Edward's School is run by the Roman Catholic Church of England. The Bournemouth AND Poole College is one of the largest colleges in the United Kingdom, with an annual combined strength of 24, 000 learners.
