Only way to save your self, your your family and friends is to silently suffocate it do you? Or do you meet your death? This question was posed in a magazine and I wanted to hear you guys opinion.-Trey

A tough one to answer, but i think i would probably suffocate the child. My reasoning would be that the baby is unaware of whats going on and that sacrificing this one life to save the whole family is more acceptable than letting them all die. It would be an unbearable decision but as a father i would carry the burden of it myself rather than let my wife and children share it for the rest of their lives. If i thought it would work, i would run out and try to draw them away from my family. But if trapped then i would have to take this action. Every parent dreams of such scenarios ie, a housefire who do you save first ,or a sinking ship who do you try to save. Not a decision to be taken lightly.

As heart-breaking as that maybe, you have to sacrifice the few for the good of the many. Most fathers would rather sacrifice themselves to spare the child, if that was an option.
I think this has actually happened before in different situations and have been portrayed in movies. Wasn't there a scene like that in Diary of Anne Frank?
Whether it's for smuggling slaves to safety, or illegal immigrants through borders, or citizens across enemy territories, it is just too terrible to contemplate. Let's hope this will never happen to anyone.

yes I beleive there was a scenario like that in Anne Frank, and I think the baby was killed. Like padraiq sid you would just have to bear it as the father. As for hoping it will never happen, well there are so many evils in this world I belive it happens every other day-Trey
