There is a proper way to hold the rabbit which involves approaching the animal from behind or the side and then catching it gently while putting a hand on the under-belly to support the weight, lifting it and then bringing it close to the chest while not removing the under belly hand which makes the animal feel secure.
If the picking technique is incorrect or painful to the animal, it will struggle violently to set itself free. This will not only harm the animal but will also give scratches to the person holding it. It is in extremely rare occasions that a rabbit will bite. Do not make a timid animal ferocious by cruelty.
A rabbit should never be picked by its ears as it is uncomfortable as well as painful for the animal. The animal may squeal and writhe with pain which could result in it developing distrust for the owner. Rabbits are intelligent; they are friendly only when handled gently.

NO.It hurts a rabbit very much if you pick him up by the ears. The creature will kick in pain untill his ears rip, and then he would have a bad injury. The right way to hold these little creatures is to put one hand under its chest and the other over the middle of its back and pick it up like that. Always hold your rabbit firmly but also gently.
