Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a condition which affects a lot of people each year! It is where a person hates something about themselves, whether it is their nose, hair, skin or any features on their body, and they think about it constantly. Their so called 'faults' occupy every minute of their thoughts, and they find it hard to live their lives in an ordinary way. Talking to people and going to work can be a big problem for them, and they feel uncomfortable around anybody because they think they will be looking at their faults too.
These thoughts that people with BDD suffer with, are often distorted but the sufferer simply cannot see that. If somebody told them that the fault didn't exist, they wouldn't believe them. Just like I you would try and tell somebody who is anorexic that they aren't fat or a failure, they just do not believe you because their minds won't allow them to.
It is quite a serious disorder and it is extremely hard to live with. Sadly, BDD is becoming more and more popular, especially in young girls.
