Each state is different but in Georgia they court system likes it to be around
17%-23% of your gross income. This means before taxes.
if you own your on company it sucks because it is gross income.
but there are new laws in affect.
the new laws are a little better because it confider's both parents income. they take both income's divide by 2 and then figure it some way with that income.
it is a little better this way because when one of the parents makes more than the other it doesn't affect the higher or lower income person as much.
there isn't a table or graph yet that explains this meathod yet so the best thing to do is to talk to a attourny.
but as a guide line the 17%-23% gives u a ballpark figure
good luck

Actually, it varies by state.
Yes, in most states, the incomes of both parents are considered in calculating child support.
Other things that most states also consider include: Assets of both parents (property, investments and so forth), medical expenses of the child, current and projected child care expenses, cost of current activities of the child, the amount of time the child spends with the non-custodial parent, how many children there are in each household, and the age of the child or children.
In some states, child support is recalculated on a regular schedule, (ie, every two years). In those states, the courts require parents to exchange tax return information to see if an increase in child support in warranted.
