Answer Question

Obesity, being classified as a social modern ill, is a disease that characterizes abberrant flabbiness and heaviness to a magnitude that it is not conventional and in some cases is even hazardous for the maintainence of health.  In an easier comprehension obesity is the state of having extra body fat that is calculated by the Body Mass Index (the proportion between body height and body weight).  As for the causes of obesity, the foremost reason behind this disease is the consumption of snacks that contain a large proportion of fat.  Moreover over-eating is another menace that contributes towards obesity.

Although being a couch potato is not considered as a harmful act in a conventional sense however the intricacies of the matter prove otherwise.  The lack of activity is a great cause of obesity and the comfort that technology has brought to our lives has hindered the extent of one's physical activity giving rise to laziness and inactivity, which in turn, becomes the cause of obesity.  All in all, having or not having obesity is the result of the lifestyle that a person chooses to live with, the causes of obesity being part of the general daily activities of one's life.

Fatness is a health hazard and is not a sign of prosperity, but of disparity. A man with richness prefers to consume diet rich in fat and indulges very little physical activity, which he prefers to be watched. This leads him to obesity. Most of the factors causing obesity are known, can be anticipated and preventive measures adopted. Once obesity has developed treatment is much more difficult because its nature is to perpetuate itself.
Food is a source of energy. We need energy, just to keep alive continuous body functions, such as breathing, beating of heart, and maintenance of muscular tone. Children need it for growth. When the food eaten provides more energy than needed, the extra energy is stored in the body as fat. Furnishing too much food to our body regularly results in gaining of weight. Similarly, if the food we eat provides us with less energy than required, the body uses the stored fat. The number of calories used by the body each day to maintain present weight is called the daily calorie need. It is known as Basal Metabolic Rate (BM), that is calories spent to keep the body functioning is influenced by the body composition, its size and by age. As an adult grows older, fewer calories are needed to keep the body functioning. The minimum calorie we need usually account for more than half the daily calorie need of a moderately active adult.
