What Play Did Mark Twain Write With Bret Harte?

Answer Question

The play Mark Twain co-wrote with Bret Harte in the winter of 1876 was 'Ah sin.' It was a comic-drama written for Charles Parsloe, a Great Chinese mimic artiste. Bret collaborated with the doyen of humour in Hartford to write the play. The play was first played at the National Theatre in Washington, on the evening of 7th May, 1877. Considerable amount of publicity was done in the tabloids and the goodwill of the authors guaranteed a stupendous opening.

The play reviewed by critics did not find it to be convincing and coherent enough. However the masses thoroughly enjoyed the fun element of 'Ah sins.' Overall, both the authors were satisfied with the success of the play and their chemistry in bringing out something quite entertaining.
