Why Do Guitars Have A Big Box?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Guitars generally have a big box so that the sound gets resonated. Like in an acoustic guitar the body of the instrument determines the overall sound variety of it. The guitar top or the soundboards are gauzily crafted and the engineered elements are mainly made from tonewood like spruce, red cedar and mahogany.

This slender piece of wood is braced by diverse types of internal bracings and is said to be the most important factor in determining the sound quality of a guitar. Most of the sound is caused by vibration of the guitar top as the force of the vibrating strings is transmitted to it.

Some famous types of guitars are Fender, Gibson, Yamaha, Martin, Takamine, Ovation etc. The Classical and the Bass guitars are also quiet well known.
