Square foot is the unit used to express the area of an object which is the space covered or occupied by that object.
The formula used to calculate the area in terms of square feet of a square can be expressed as the square of the length of its side. For example if the length of the side of a square is 3 feet the area of the square will be 9 square feet.
Formula = length * length
If the object is in the shape of a rectangle then its area will be given by multiplying the length of the rectangle with its breadth. For example if the length of a rectangle is 5 and its breadth is 3 then its area will be 15 square feet.
Formula = length * breadth
In case of a triangle the area can be found out by multiplying the base and height of the triangle and then dividing by 2.
For example if the base of the triangle is 4 and its height is 6 then the area will be 12 square feet.
Formula = (Base * Height) 1/2
The area of a circular object can be found out by multiplying the square of the radius with 3.14 (pi). For example if the radius of a circle is 3 then the area will be 28.26 square feet.
Formula = r * r * 3.14 (pi)
